Q&A With Pame Designer, Pam Sweeney, in the Hamptons: Part Two

- Thursday, July 11, 2013

celebrity jewelry

Since some of our favorite Pame jewelry designs are inspired by the Hamptons (We’re talking about you Montauk Pebble Necklaces!), we’ve gone to Pame designer Pam Sweeney to get the skinny on her inspirations from the Idyllic East Coast beach towns that have been wooing people for generations.

We love the entire Hamptons vibe, from the traditional cedar shake Hamptons homes to sherbet-hued bikes, seafood shacks, charming boutiques and so much more! And what we love even more is getting the inside scoop on all the must-visit places in this charming seaside hamlet — from eateries to shopping havens and so much more.  So we asked Pam, who has been going to the Hamptons town of Montauk since she was a young girl, to give us all the goods.

Last week, Pam dished on her drool-worthy insider tips on the best places to get a lobster roll, eat breakfast, grab a drink by the beach and much more, all while looking fabulous and wearing her gorgeous beach jewelry. (Check out her tips here.)

So this week, we wanted to get the skinny on a few of Pam’s fashion must-haves when she’s relaxing on the island.

Favorite Hamptons boutique: My absolute fave is Lazypoint Variety in Amagansett. (And, I just happen to sell my jewelry there.) They really have the most eclectic collection.

(Note to readers: This Hamptons shopping haven owned by Brazil native Claudja Bicalho (formerly with Tracy Feith) and Australian Mark Smith has been wooing shoppers at their summertime pop-up shop with eclectic yet chic finds from around the globe. We think that the quaint little house that is home to the boutique is reason enough to pop by, but the gorgeous dresses, swimsuits accessories and other goodies might make it hard to get away! It’s definitely worth a stop if you’re in town.)

What to wear to a clam bake: At night I like flowy tops with tiny skirts and jewelry.  In the summer, I tone down the colors of the jewelry so the look is not overdone. Click here to see one of my favorite summer ensembles.

Beach bag by…anything really huge, like this Nantucket Tote by The Sak

Favorite piece of Pame jewelry to wear: My Venice Cuff in Brass Ox or my Black tourmaline. These pieces are statement pieces, but if you wear a darker color it gives it a more mellow vibe. Both are perfect for the evening or make a great statement piece during the day, if you’re that kind of gal.

Beach towel byMissoni

Swimsuit by...I love this H&M one piece with side cut outs. Gotta wear something that will stay on while I'm surfing!

Sandals byK Jacques thong sandal

Beach cover up by...Missoni again!

Favorite beach accessory: During the day it’s all beach for me with pearls and leather, which I capture in our Lariat necklaces such as our Fresh Water Baroque Pearl Lariat.

Dive Into Summer With The Wave Necklace

- Tuesday, July 9, 2013

beach jewelryHere at Pame Designs, we try and put ourselves in beach mode all year round. We believe that beach jewelry isn’t just for the summer, but rather the perfect accessory for anyone who loves easy, effortless style all year round. But don’t get us wrong: We adore summer! In fact, we can’t get enough of it and we draw inspiration from our favorite season all year long.

And one of our favorite jewelry designs is the Gold Wave on Leather necklace. Simple, sinuous and a chic nod to long, lazy days on the beach and evenings spent in our flowy maxi dresses. This 14K Gold Filled necklace on Natural Leather looks great alone or layered and its available in the small size (15.5") or the medium (16”), if you like a little extra room to play.

So make some waves this summer and rock this elegant design with a T-shirt, your bikini or just a simple little black dress.

Q&A With Pame Designer, Pam Sweeney, in the Hamptons: Part One

- Friday, July 5, 2013

Every time we put on a piece from the Montauk Pebble Necklace collection, which is inspired from the beaches in Montauk, we’re transported to the Hamptons. The collection, which comes in three combinations — mixed metal, gold and silver plate — is the ideal piece of summer beach jewelry to wear layered or with other pieces. Next to our beach bag and sunscreen, these chic little treats for our neck are the perfect summer staples from day to evening.

The idyllic summer beach town that has inspired these perfect beach accessories is also one of Pame’s favorite spots and a home away from home in the summer.

So we went to Pame to get the skinny on her insider tips and summer must-haves when visiting this East end seaside town. This is the first of two installments, and you won’t want to miss Pame’s tips on all the hottest place to eat, drink, shop and hang out in Montauk.

What is magical about Montauk?

I have been coming to Montauk since I was little, and it’s just a special place for me.  It has always had a rebellious vibe, which I love. The dunes, surf and our friends keep us coming back every summer.

What was it in Montauk that inspired your Montauk pieces?

There are lots of huge, white sandy beaches in the Hampton’s, but there are also tons of these smooth pebbles.  I walk over a ton of them every time I surf and I wanted to create something organic, beach inspired and pretty.

How can we channel the Hamptons vibe for the summer?

The vibe is relaxed but stylish. During the day it’s all beach for me with pearls and leather, which I capture in our Lariat necklaces such as our Fresh Water Baroque Pearl Lariat.  But there are so many different looks in the Hampton’s.  It’s not just beach and surf.

Some of my pieces I made so that you can look chic, but not like you tried too hard! These are perfect for playing tennis, golf, going to a clam
bake, etc. At night I like flowy tops with tiny skirts and jewelry.  In the summer, I tone down the colors of the jewelry so the look is not overdone.  It’s all about an effortless vibe. I love to wear my Venice Cuff in Brass Ox or my Black Tourmaline Wrap Necklace. These pieces are statement pieces, but if you wear a darker color it gives it a more mellow vibe.

What’s the Best Place for a Lobster Roll?

Dirt Lot in Montauk

Best breakfast in Montauk: Your own place or a restaurant?

Joni’s in Montauk.  I love her and love her food.

Favorite place to have a summer drink by the beach?

Liar’s Mudslides

A Chic Way To Do Stars For Fourth of July

- Tuesday, July 2, 2013

jewelry designsThere is certainly no shortage of kitschy Fourth of July clothing and accessories to wear! From stars-and-stripes sweaters to sparkly headbands, light-up pins and barrettes with little streamers attached. They make for fun photo ops and look perfect at the town square, but you likely won’t be wearing any of it for a chic night on the town or a beach getaway. (At least, we hope not!)

Here at Pame, we prefer to leave the more colorful fare behind and opt for chic jewelry designs to celebrate our patriotic spirit long after the actual holiday has ended. And in the summer, we need just the right piece to go with everything from a boho beach getaway or shopping at the Farmers’ market to a dressy dinner out on the town.

One of our favorites is our Star Charm Necklace, which is the perfect slice of sparkle and a stylish nod to the Fourth of July holiday or celebrating your own superstardom! It’s such a versatile piece. The Star Charm is an effortless accent to wear on its own or layered with one of your other favorite Pame designs. It’s also perfect to pair with pieces you have in your own jewelry collection. The gold-plated Star Charm has a tiny accent of a diamond Swavorski crystal and is set on a skinny gold plated chain that is adjustable from 16-18'.

And even if you’re not the patriotic sort, think of it as a reminder to always reach for the stars!
